Happy Doctors' Day!
Doctors' Day is like a mini birthday. We get hugs of thanks in the hallway at work. We get cookies, muffins, chocolates, and flowers on our desks. Patients and their families send us
cards to acknowledge the dedication, compassion, and expertise we provided to care for the health of themselves or their loved ones. I would like to thank all of you that give that
gift of recognition. It took 11-15 years of education with training, or more, to get that doctor in front of you to provide care.
As we approach Doctors' Day on March 30, I want to express my sincere gratitude to my colleagues for their expertise, attention to detail, and commitment. Behind the scenes, all of us
in healthcare still give up family events, birthday parties, or holidays, because of what we do. But I also want to thank our patients. You have shown enormous trust by giving us the
privilege of taking care of you. We may be the one face you remember, but for us, you are innumerable faces. Your voices, your worries, your individual personalities stay with us for
years after we cared for you. After 38 years of having the honor of caring for so many of you, my memories still bring the rush of joy, or the ache of grief depending on your outcome.
Don’t underestimate the impact that you, the patient, has had on our lives.
