Legislature Heads into Final Three Weeks of Regular Session
With just three weeks remaining in the 2025 legislative session, things are heating up. Late last week, House Bill 2049 was introduced and quickly scheduled for a hearing in the House
Finance Committee on Thursday. This comprehensive revenue bill includes a proposal to raise the current 101% property tax limit to a maximum of 103%, tying increases to inflation and
population growth.
While passage will be challenging, WFCA supports HB 2049 as a much-needed tool for fire districts to keep pace with inflation. The bill is part of a broader package of legislative efforts
aimed at closing the state’s projected $10+ billion revenue shortfall.
