The Council was created to improve siting and permitting of clean energy projects. Established by the Legislature <https://links-2.govdelivery.com/CL0/https:%2F%2Flawfilesext.leg.wa.gov%2Fbiennium%2F

in 2023, the Council is co-chaired by the Departments of Ecology and Commerce and consists of 13 state agencies, councils, offices, departments and commissions. The Council works to
improve the processes, policies and interagency coordination regarding clean energy projects but does not make decisions related to siting or permitting of individual projects.
Each year, the Council submits a report to the Governor and state Legislature with updates on clean energy efforts and recommendations to improve siting and permitting. The 2024 annual

tribal engagement, permitting processes, and conflict resolution. Annual reports are due October 1.
The Council is beginning to develop recommendations for this year’s report and wants your input on how to make clean energy siting and permitting easier and more effective.
