Remembering Senator Ramos It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Senator Bill Ramos who passed away this last weekend at the age of 69. Senator Ramos was a dedicated public servant whose career spanned decades of leadership and advocacy in Washington State. He began his career with the US Forest Service and later served in the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). Senator Ramos also served on the Issaquah City Council from 2016 - 2019 before being elected State Representative in the 5th Legislative District and then joining the State Senate this year. Senator Ramos served as Vice Chair of both the Senate and House Transportation Committees, where he helped lead the $17 billion transportation funding package in 2022, which supported our highways, ferries, and other infrastructure needs. King County's Council issued a statement saying, "We are deeply saddened by the passing of our friend Senator Bill Ramos. Bill was a true public servant whose passion for his community never wavered. Bill was a true public servant whose passion for his community never wavered. His leadership, kindness, and integrity will be profoundly missed." He is survived by his wife, King County Councilmember Sarah Perry, and their two children, Max and Maya. Together, they were a powerful example of dedication to public service to the people of King County and the State of Washington. We extend our deepest condolences to Councilmember Perry, their family, friends, and all who had the privilege of working alongside Senator Ramos.
