HomeMy WebLinkAbout042825 email - RE_ Fencing around Memorial Field in Port TownsendGood morning, Jerry. The county submitted a grant application to help fund additional improvements at Memorial Field. These improvements include new goalposts, a new scoreboard and a new fence. Our application was successful. We anticipate getting the grant funded improvements completed by next year. Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. It is my understanding that Memorial Field in Port Townsend is owned/operated/the responsibility of Jefferson County. The fence is in absolutely terrible condition, provides little, if any, security and is an eyesore. I have lived in Jefferson County for 15 years and cannot believe that nothing has been done to address this situation. Memorial Field, is supposed to reflect our appreciation and or respect for our veterans. The condition of the fencing would suggest that is not the case. Memorial Field is a multipurpose facility which is used by high school sports teams and other activities. I recognize that money is always an issue but the message sent by the neglect of this facility sends a very unfortunate message. Sent from Jerry
