Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. Commissioners, Thank you for hosting the opportunity to meet the finalists last night. Here's what worked, and what didn't... The times at the podium where the applicants were able to speak for 6 minutes was a good and productive format for the public to get a sense of these people. I found it to be insightful. One-on-one conversations were also good, if for only an extremely limited amount of time. I raced around the room and asked all 4 applicants the same 2 questions but could not hear anyone else's question or the reply because the room was deafeningly loud. It was impossible to hear someone standing 2' away. There were, undoubtedly, terrific questions asked, but we couldn't hear it. The format was chaotic. I would have preferred something akin to what Emily Randall is doing with a mix of written and live questions so the audience can hear the responses. The personal interactions could have been staged to happen after the panel questions so that attendees could get more info. Some people present well, but it does not necessarily mean they are the best fit for the job. Others do not interview well, but it does not necessarily mean they are unfit for the job. Sometimes confidence masks weakness. Sometimes nerves just mean that the person is taking the subject seriously or attempting to make improvements while operating outside their comfort zone. Comfort is nice, but it is not where growth happens. The interview panels being held today should be recorded and made available to the public, as should all the application packets. Jean
