Dear Commissioner Eisenhour,
Walmart is pleased to share with you how we are enhancing the associate experience and community engagement, including plans to remodel an additional eight Washington stores this year.
Between 2020 and 2025, Walmart invested more than $285 million to upgrade stores throughout Washington. Our planned remodels this year will enhance the experience for our customers with
a new look, more selection, expanded online pickup & delivery and pharmacy upgrades.
Investing in Our Associates
Walmart employs over 23,500 associates in Washington between 64 retail locations and two distribution centers. Whether coming for a job or staying for a career, associates have opportunities
to build skills, gain experience, grow their earnings and use industry-leading benefits to help them flourish both at work and at home. We are proud to announce that:
* 14,200+ hourly, frontline associates in Washington received a bonus in March
* 2,000+ part-time associates in Washington moved to full-time positions last year
* Approximately 75% of Walmart frontline managers started as hourly associates
Investing in Washington Communities
Walmart is proud to be part of the communities we serve. We play an active role in lifting up communities through local giving, company-paid associate volunteering, emergency relief
efforts when disaster strikes, and supporting local manufacturing. Walmart, the Walmart Foundation, and Sam’s Club invested in Washington in the following ways:
* $16.5 million donated to empower local communities in Washington in fiscal year 2024
* $2.7 billion spent with Washington suppliers in fiscal year 2024, supporting 28,000+ supplier jobs across the state
* More than 9.1 million pounds of food donated to local food banks in Washington in fiscal year 2025, the equivalent of 7.6 million meals
