You deliver essential services and champion innovative solutions and are on the front lines of our communities every day. This year’s theme, "Voices of Impact," highlights the power of clear, strategic communication—both within county teams and with the public—to drive meaningful change. Over the last month, we've shared from many of our affiliate groups about what they do and why it's important. To close out the month, we're sharing from the Washington State Association of Counties' President, to better understand the unique perspective of serving in local government while also serving all 39 counties in our state. Rob Coffman Commissioner & WSAC President Lincoln County Tell us a little about what brought you to your current county role: Being born and raised in the small town of Wilbur in Lincoln County, community service has always been in my blood. I have been a volunteer firefighter and an advanced EMT for 25 years. I served on the town council of Wilbur and was also their hearings examiner. I had every intention of running for mayor at some point, but before that opportunity arose, I was urged to run for County Commissioner in 2010 and here I am 15 years later! What do you see as the most valuable aspect of your affiliate group? When you have an elite group of 141 elected officials who all care deeply about our counties, anything is possible, and we witnessed our organization become much stronger over the last several years. So, out of ALL the value that WSAC provides to our 39 counties, at the end of the day, the answer is, our people! Our membership and our awesome staff who serve the public is what it is all about! BUT…I would be remiss if I didn’t shamelessly plug our VERY VALUABLE “County Connection” Podcast that you can find here <https://members.wsac.org/admin-portal/email-engine/l ink/MTkwNjY5LWZjZjkzMmdib1hrMQ==/2/FXx---slash---yVUpP2BcAdUbGkMJx2CI5ztAOmXxaWjyY955PDywHjf5WdHjh6jJY0QQlzhNdwRIiskTrcYr---slash---WSoNrhk9F---plus---v---slash---YLfuLXYjKc797m6kxOKmeT2y3Wy5---slash ---rykVW---slash---8yYm> if you haven’t found it yet, please check it out and share it on your favorite social media platforms. What has been your favorite part of being President? My favorite part of being president is getting to know more of my peers around the state as well as other states across our nation. I have attended several NaCo events and have found them to be very valuable. Also, I got to do several county visits last fall. We will start them up again this summer and I’m looking forward to getting around to as many counties as possible. Is there anything else you would like to share? I am grateful every day for all of the friendships that I have within WSAC and the county family. It is an amazing group of people that I am humbled to be a part of. I am honored and excited to be serving as your President and will do my best to live up to your expectations. Did I mention that WSAC has the “County Connection” Podcast that you can find here <https://members.wsac. org/admin-portal/email-engine/link/MTkwNjY5LWZjZjkzMmdib1hrMQ==/3/w0BkrkGTp7cdtXvoymcNwP0YyopcMMXcYtEVvZklVgCH68Jfq3aETwxo---slash---oYLhcEQ3kNdkFrbDCVBr8qeG3K8scvJW2VIAONyRJB---slash---S3Mr4rd7iioc0 C1NUyu6xx6S614H> ??
