When Marie welcomed her first baby, she thought she was prepared. But after the birth, everything felt different.
The sleepless nights, the recovery pain, the overwhelming emotions—Marie began to feel isolated, anxious, and unsure of herself. Like so many new mothers, she thought she was supposed
to feel only joy. She didn’t realize that what she was experiencing was postpartum anxiety, one of the most common—and least talked about—complications of childbirth.
Marie isn’t alone.
1 in 5 mothers will experience a perinatal mental health condition like postpartum depression or anxiety—and 75% won’t receive the care they need.
