SR 104 Hood Canal Bridge reopens to vehicle traffic
SHINE – As of 9:26 p.m., Monday, May 5, the State Route 104 Hood Canal Bridge is open to vehicle traffic.
During a routine closure for a marine vessel at 1:02 p.m. on Monday, May 5, the bridge experienced a mechanical malfunction. Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance
crews and bridge engineers worked several hours to close the draw span and reopen the bridge for vehicle traffic. A tug was called to assist with the work.
WSDOT would like to thank travelers for their patience during this unplanned, extended bridge closure.

Federal regulations require WSDOT to open the draw span to mariners within one hour’s notice. Advance notification does not occur for passage of marine vessels associated with the Department
of Defense.
