JEFFERSON COUNTY
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
REGULAR AGENDA REQUEST
TO: Board of County Commissioners
FROM: Mark McCauley,County Administrator
DATE: May 5,2025
SUBJECT: Government to Government Meeting with Grays Harbor County, re: Lake
Quinault South Shore Road
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
Sam Kim,Grays Harbor County Administrator, reached out to Jefferson County on Tuesday,April 20
regarding the washout at milepost 1.3 on South Shore Road along the Quinault River. He suggested that our
two counties send a joint letter addressing the washout to the leadership of the Olympic National Park and to
the appropriate leaders of the State of Washington.
ANALYSIS:
Jefferson County is receptive to the joint letter idea and has scheduled a Government-to-Government
meeting with the Grays Harbor Board of Commissioners to discuss the joint letter. During the meeting other
potential strategies will be discussed that we could jointly use to gain some movement on funding for a
repair of the sort that was used to repair the Upper Hoh Road washout.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None.
RECOMMENDATION:
Conduct the meeting and provide guidance to staff.
