Van Ness,226 Smith Road, Marrowstone Island Dear Director: Enclosed for your review is a proposed modification and amendment to my Building Permit 02-0406 for an addition to my cabin at 226 Smith Road. The purpose of the modification is to move the kitchen from the existing cabin to the new addition. The new kitchen area would be located in the room designated as the"Den"on the building permit blueprints(see page 1,"Floor Plan—First Floor"). A drawing showing the new kitchen area is enclosed as Attachment A. This modification would involve: 1. Installing new kitchen cabinets; 2. Moving appliances(stove,refrigerator, sink,dishwasher)from the existing cabin to the den area of the new addition; 3. Eliminating the 6' double door in the den area and replacing it with a 3°x 5°window; and 4. Appropriate plumbing and electrical installation. This modification will change the layout of the house by centrally locating the kitchen between the existing cabin's and the new addition's living areas. It will also make sense from an economic point of view because remodeling the old kitchen area would be labor intensive and expensive.
