SUBJECT: WORKSHOP re: Jefferson County Historical Society: Culture+Heritage Series
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
Objective 6.A. of the County's Strategic Plan calls for the celebration of the culture, heritage and
diversity in Jefferson County through events and programming.As part of this effort staff approached
Tara McCauley,Executive Director of the Jefferson County Historical Society,to gauge her interest in
partnering with the County to highlight the various ethnic groups that helped build our community in Port
Townsend and throughout Jefferson County.
ANALYSIS:
Ms. McCauley was very supportive of the idea. We discussed having her or members of her staff attend a
Board of Commissioners meeting once a month to highlight a different group and their contributions to
building our community.
This workshop is to discuss this idea with the Board and seek their support and guidance.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This amendment has no fiscal impact.
RECOMMENDATION:
Conduct the workshop, ask questions and provide guidance.
