ORAL HISTORIES
1.7.2013
- Focused on three main priorities:
- Inclusivity
o History is complex, inclusive of multiple perspectives and experiences – it is not a singular story. The new museum experience relies on community participation and collaboration to
create more rich, inclusive, and truthful experiences for visitors.
o Prioritizing responsible representation – highlighting historically underrepresented voices and leaning into the intricacies of the past, present, and future.
- Accessibility
o Accessibility is at the forefront of the new museum experience. This means creating spaces that are physically accessible for everyone and developing exhibits that cater to different
learning styles and ages.
- Relevance:
o Each year our exhibitions will change to focus on relevant and timely topics in our community, using the lenses of art and history to gain new understandings.
Each year we will form new partnerships, conduct new research, and connect with new people.
