Contract Extension for Recycling Services
Statement of Issue:
The Department of Public Works (Public Works) will issue a Request for Proposals
shortly. The terms and conditions of a new contract may require changes in the
operation of the County's recycling facilities.
The Department of Public Works desires to transition through current and new
contract terms and conditions with minimal disruption of service and/or drop in
serVice quality to its solid waste customers. Meeting this goal requires time for
transitioning not afforded to Public Works under current contract terms (attached for
reference).
Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's B: Con's:
A contract extension under the current terms and conditions will afford Public Works
the time to transition between current and forthcoming contracts.
Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis:
Current contract service fees are budgeted through 2010 in the approved Solid Waste
budget.
Recommendation:
Execute the attached Contract Renewal.
