We would like to amend our request for Housing Fund Board funding to increase the amount for the plan set and engineering for the Caswell Brown Shelter from $20,000 to $23,500. This
would cover both the Congregate building and the Office Entry building. Also, these funds will be repaid once we close on the Commerce grant. That closing is expected in late July.
We have an immediate need for $23,500 to fund the payment of the plan set and engineering documents for the Congregate Shelter at Caswell Brown 3. This payment will allow us to have
the contractor create the necessary plans to allow us to send the plans to the State. The State estimates 10 to 16 weeks for approval. If we can get this paid by June 1 we can have
the plans ready by July 1. If the State takes the full 16 weeks we could begin construction by October at the latest. Construction should be only 3 months as the construction is using
modular components. We will of course urge the State to take less than the full 16 weeks so we have a more comfortable margin for the completion. This would be creation of new units
of shelter so I believe 148 funds would be appropriate.
In addition, from 148 funds for new units we would like to request $30,000 for the electrical work for the 8 tiny shelters. These are new units as well and could be ready by the summer
to assist with filling the gap with the Legion closing if we received this grant. We have raised the funds for the shelters, the pavers for foundation, the permit and transportation
of the shelters to the site from other sources.
