HomeMy WebLinkAboutDISCUSSION re Emergency Shelter and requests Consent Agenda Commissioners Office JEFFERSON COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST TO: Board of County Commissioners FROM: Greg Brotherton DATE: May 27, 2025 SUBJECT: WORKSHOP re: Addressing requests for emergency funding, various housing agencies STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The Housing Fund Board and Jefferson County have received requests for emergency funding from Dove House, Bayside and OlyCAP due to decreased state funding,rescoping of projects due to external considerations and the request for six months continued operations of the Emergency Shelter at the American Legion. ANALYSIS: The BoCC should discuss the requests and funding opportunities at the Housing Fund Board,the needs of homeless housing,any additional funding opportunities and the existing$85,000 funding shortfall for the completion of the existing contract with Bayside though the June 30,2025,to operate the Emergency Shelter at the American Legion. RECOMMENDATION Consider an appropriation to pay existing bills at the American Legion Emergency Shelter, and what further support the county, aside from HFB recommendations, can contribute to these requests.
