* Fighting the Republican Tax Scam that Slashes Funding for Essential Programs: This week, I joined my Democratic colleagues in fighting back against the Republican-led Budget Reconciliation
Bill — a proposal that would gut Medicaid, SNAP, and other vital programs our communities rely on. We testified in committee for over 27 hours to delay the vote and make our voices

* Welcoming Chairwoman Charles to Capitol Hill: It was an honor to welcome Chairwoman Charles of the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe to D.C. this week to testify in support of the Lower Elwha
Klallam Tribe Project Lands Restoration Act, a bill I introduced with Senators Murray and Cantwell. This legislation will return sacred lands to the Tribe and help right historical

installations as part of the FY26 National Defense Authorization Act. Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Naval Base Kitsap, and the Army Reserve in Tacoma are pillars of our community. I urged
Chairman Rogers and Ranking Member Smith to prioritize robust authorization to the Defense Community Infrastructure Program to strengthen the infrastructure surrounding these essential
facilities and support the service members and families who call our district home.
* Introducing the ANCHOR Act to Support Military Families: This week, I teamed up with Rep. Rob Wittman to introduce the ANCHOR for Military Families Act — legislation that ensures service
members and their families get the support and information they need well in advance of a relocation. From improved communication to better services, we’re working to ease the burden
