HomeMy WebLinkAbout071910_CA04 .1; it Department of Public Works o Consent Agenda Page 1 of 2 Jefferson County Board of Commissioners Agenda Request From: Board of Commissioners Philip Morley, County Administrator Frank Gifford, Public Works Director ~:,- <~ To: q.~ Agenda Date: July 19, 2010 Subject: Moderate Risk Waste Facility Floor Repair Statement of Issue: Washington State Department of Ecology requires Moderate Risk Waste Facilities to have a base underlying waste containers which is free from cracks or gaps and is sufficiently impervious to contain leaks, spills, accumulated precipitation, or fire suppression materials until the collected material is detected and removed (WAC 173-350-36O(5)(a)(ili)(C), Moderate Risk Waste Handling, effective 2/2003). The Jefferson County Moderate Risk Waste Facility receiving and processing areas floors were sealed in 2005. The concrete floor sealant in the processing area has deteriorated in several areas and the floor sealant must be repaired. Public Works stafIhas selected the contractor in accordance with the Jefferson County Ordinance Relating to Letting of County Contracts No. 05-0601-92 Small Works Roster bidding procedure, which included solicitation of bids and selection from the current Public Works Department Small Works Roster of contractors for the project descnOed as follows: Jefferson County Moderate Risk Waste Facility Floor Repair, County Project No. 4015371857. . .. Department of Public Works o Regular Agenda Page 2 of 2 Analysis/Strategic GoalslPro's 8: Con's: The pmpose of this project is to meet compliance with Washington State Department of Ecology Moderate Risk Waste Handling regulations. The work includes: remove existing primer and sealant, clean, prepare, repair and fill minor cracks and gaps and re-seal the processing floor area, and one (1) catch basin, to provide a base underlying waste containers which is free from cracks or gaps. Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: The project is funded by the Jefferson County Solid Waste disposal tipping fees with partial funding provided by Washington State Department of Ecology. Recommendation: Public Works reco=ends the Board award the attached Contract with Contech Services, Inc. The Board is asked to approve and sign the three Contracts where indicated, and return two (2) to Public Works (attn. Darrel M. Erfle) for implementation. b~ Date
