The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) is proud to announce that, as of May 21, 2025, it has officially earned accreditation through the Washington Association of Sheriffs and
Police Chiefs (WASPC). This prestigious recognition affirms that JCSO is operating in alignment with the highest professional standards and best practices in law enforcement.
With this achievement, JCSO joins a distinguished group of 79 other law enforcement agencies across Washington State—representing roughly 25% of all agencies statewide—that have met
the rigorous standards required for WASPC accreditation.
“This is more than a certificate,” said Sheriff Andy Pernsteiner. “It is a symbol of our unwavering commitment to serve Jefferson County with excellence, professionalism, and integrity.”
The accreditation journey began in 2017 and represents years of meticulous work, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the Sheriff’s Office. Central to this effort was Accreditation
Manager Ben Stamper, whose leadership and dedication were instrumental in guiding the agency through the accreditation process.
“Ben’s tireless commitment and attention to detail made this milestone possible,” Sheriff Pernsteiner added. “We are deeply grateful for his efforts and for the dedication of every member
of our team.”
The WASPC accreditation program evaluates agencies on a comprehensive set of standards, including administration, operations, and personnel practices. Accreditation assures the public
that the agency is operating with transparency, accountability, and efficiency.
As the JCSO continues to grow and evolve, this accreditation serves as a foundation for ongoing excellence in public safety and community service.
