Dear Commissioners,
At our port commission meeting last night a woman named Maggie spoke about homelessness during the public comment period, and then stayed for a long time after the meeting continuing
to voice her concerns. We suggested that there are resources available in JC that we could steer her towards, but that our port’s role could not provide the housing and services that
she spoke about. She was pretty upset, saying JC has the highest in the nation of homeless with over 2000 counted this past year (but our official count was 134), amongst many other
“legal” demands and other things she said…
I’d appreciate hearing from you on how best to direct her concerns.
Thank you,
Pam
