Special Meeting
MINUTES
8:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2025
Jefferson County Courthouse, First Floor Conference Room
I. Present: Chair Faber called the meeting to order at 8:31 a.m. in the presence of
Commissioner Greg Brotherton, Member Gary Mikelson, Member Justin Fletcher,
Secretary Lindsay Gonzalez, and Human Resources Director, Sarah Melancon.
II. Approval of Minutes: Commissioner Brotherton moved to approve the regular
meeting minutes from April 08, 2025. Member Mikelson seconded the motion. The
motion carried.
III. Review of research conducted on medical costs and coverage: The Secretary
presented the results of research on standard medical costs and comparison of
coverage provided by other LEOFF 1 Board policies. The Board discussed proposed
policy language amending coverage limits in sections 9.7 Vision Benefits, 9.8.1
Hearing Aids, and 9.9 Dental Benefits. Commissioner Brotherton moved to adopt
language as discussed for sections 9.7 Vision Benefits and 9.8.1 Hearing Aids.
Member Mikelson seconded the motion. The Board directed the Secretary to
prepare draft language amending section 9.9 Dental Benefits for review at the next
meeting.
IV. New Business: None
V. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 9:14 a.m. The next meeting is a special
meeting scheduled for Tuesday, June 03, 2025 at 8:30 a.m. in the Jefferson County
First Floor Conference Room.
