Comment
Add context, parameters, or metrics associated with local
food security. How will we know if we are increasing it?
Is this the only place where mineral use is mentioned?
Protection is needed for mineral resources--this is where
shale gas in New york took lad via eminent domain.
Ammend: preserve land and agricultural soils
Change to: Support future agriculture prduction through
research, education, infrastructure, and investment that
promote cliamte resiliency for the agricultural industry.
Add support for docents and garden support positions. Food
takes work to make accessible.
...in suitable locations, including easements and properties
owned by the County...
Consider a requirement that all new mid- to large-scale
housing developments include space for community
garden/s that are accesible to those residents.
Change to: Establish a countywide food system security and
resilience action plan that prioritizes sustainable agriculture
and food systems practices and helps farmers and
communities preserve food for year-round access and use,
while serving vulnerable populations
Pretty vague language to "support research / capacity
building."
Consider opportunities to reduce GHG emissions and
increase carbon sequestration in the agricultural sector
Support soil fertillity and nutrient enrichment through large
scale composting--whether this is through favorable policy
and permitting environments, Co sponsored facilities, etc.
No exclusive waste hauling contracts, for example. Circular
economy compost inputs designated as resources, rather
than waste.
