Phase 2 Updates JUMP! and Jefferson County Parks & Recreation appreciates your patience in awaiting the re-opening of the JUMP! playground. We had hoped to be sending out a newsletter in March with news about a Grand Re-opening event in early May, but that didn't happen. Back in late January, the playground vendor told Jefferson Parks and Recreation that the playground installation would be a 6-8 week project. Unfortunately, the vendor ordered the wrong color tile for the accessible surfacing which delayed the project for another 2 months before the tiles arrived. <https://mcusercontent.com/026fe9cf2f2bf19fe17821626/images/a451dc83-55df-fe06-fbff-9677be98151a.jpg> Since other aspects of the project had to wait for the tile installation, the entire project has been sidelined. The most recent communication with the vendor states that they hope to be back on the project by mid-June to install the new sail shades and finish up the remaining work to be done. Parks & Rec is hopeful all the work will be done before the end of June. The Good News! The idea for the JUMP! playground was conceived in 2016. Our volunteer Board has worked for the past 9 years in collaboration with Parks & Rec to fundraise through donor solicitation, events and grant-writing to build this special playground for ALL. Hopefully, it will only be 3-4 more weeks to complete the playground as designed so all can play together, from, toddlers to teens.
