The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners has officially adopted Resolution No. 27-0428-25R, declaring numerous items of county-owned equipment and vehicles as surplus. The decision
follows a public hearing held on April 28, 2025, and allows for the sale of the listed items via public online auction throughout the 2025 calendar year.
The surplus inventory includes more than 35 vehicles and equipment units from departments such as Public Works, WSU Extension, and Juvenile Services. Notable items include various working-condition
Ford Explorers, Dodge Rams, Ford Crown Victorias, tractors, sweepers, sanders, and other utility vehicles and attachments.
The public will have the opportunity to purchase these items through the online consignment auction services of GovDeals, a platform widely used by government agencies for surplus auctions.
Listings will be posted incrementally throughout the year, with details about availability, viewing opportunities, and bid procedures provided directly on the auction website using:

“We’re committed to transparent, efficient asset management,” said Heidi Eisenhour, Chair of the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners. “Declaring surplus equipment ensures that taxpayers
benefit from the continued use or resale of items no longer needed by the County.”
In accordance with RCW 36.34.020 and related statutes, Jefferson County published public notice of the hearing in the Port Townsend & Jefferson County Leader on April 16 and April 23,
2025. The County Treasurer will oversee the auction process, and all proceeds from sales will return to the fund that originally purchased each item.
Items not sold at auction may be redirected to other County departments, nonprofit organizations, recycling centers, or to the Transfer Station for final disposal.
