Fair housing violations are a daily occurrence at the shelter hygiene facilities have never been fully fixed.
Safety violations occur daily from consumers and staff. Staff began harassing me physically and verbally on a daily basis when I helped consumer who was attacked by dog. It has been
nonstop stop Trevor accused me of stealing paper cups and juice when I was sick with whatever current constant round of infectious disease is making the 24 hr rounds in the shelter
Trevor B kicked me out while I had a fever because I told Trevor I was sick and needed the juice and paper cups. Julia had to put me up in the hotel. After I was no longer sick another
infectious disease made the rounds both men and women have it , no one is being kicked out because of it. All during this time Dakota would come up behind my back and touch my breast,
my shoulder, poke my back and the back of my neck with her finger and repeat that she's going to kick me out. Her hostility began when I was helping consumer who was attacked by dog
and also attacked by another consumer who is known for threatening to kill other consumers in shelter.
Consumer who has threatened to kill other people include but are not limited to gay and transgender folks, a consumer with autism, an older consumer with the beginnings of age related
Alzheimer's, and women. Staff spend a lot of time sitting in the front passenger seat of their vehicles smoking cigarettes outside, many consumers tell me they are afraid to ask for
things that they know are in stock and provided but they are wary of resentment from staff if the ask for things. Staff disappear and can't be found during the night when consumers
have medical issues. It's unsafe, staff are unqualified, negligent. An analogy is if the county were the YMCA and they hired lifeguards to watch people in the pool; the lifeguards
don't know how to swim and have know lifeguards training. Operator Bayside has hired an unqualified subcontractor that is not up to the task of serving the needs of a diverse population
of disabled and elderly consumers with a wide variety of medical issues and immune systems compromised by being in the shelter. Staff members constantly bully, harass and threaten
anyone who advocates for safe and human treatment as required by law in rcw codes. It's clear that Bayside doesn't care about endangered consumers, we know that they round file consumer
complaints, we know they harass and evict people who pay their rent, in their transitional housing program, we know Bayside promised to house homeless folks in the Alcohol Plant Inn
in 2022, he received government money to do just that, but he didn't do it, the department of commerce had to sue him to get their money back, they did sue him, why would you have a
man who committed fraud on the state government run a shelter, clearly by his actions he doesn't care about marginalized and disabled and elderly folks. And yet the county and the
city make a contract with him anyway when Gary Kiester is so unqualified to run a to care for disabled folks we can see this by the unqualified subcontractor that threatens and harasses
and endangers people daily. There was the consumer with the severe head injury who was kicked out, there is a transgender consumer that has been subject to violent verbal attacks inside
and outside the shelter when I stood up against another consumer repeated verbal violence on this consumer I was told to mind my own business by staff who did nothing to help this consumer
and would not even acknowledge the consumer issuing the loud verbal threats at this person took a wide top down swing at me and missed. Nothing was done. The people who commit the
verbal violence are well aware they can get away with doing so and there was a woman who pushed me into a wall Trevor B. Invited her to reenter the shelter and sleep in the cot next
to mine.
Also Gary has done nothing about the bed bugs outbreak, you continue to make contacts with contractors and subcontractors that endanger consumer health and their physical well-being.
209a Monroe Street shelter has an inappropriate landlord and a dangerously negligent contractor and subcontractor who endanger consumers well-being, are dangerously unqualified to care
for the protected populations that they serve.
