Are you 60+ (or 55+ for folks who are Alaska Native/Native American)? You may be eligible for the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program. The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program
(SFMNP) is a nutrition assistance program that gives seniors with low incomes the buying power to purchase fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables from Washington farmers markets
from June through September.
How It Works:
Participating seniors received a $80 benefit card or signed up for a fresh produce share to be picked up at one of the Jefferson County Food Banks, twice monthly, July through September.
Both options give participants $80 in fresh fruit and vegetables from local farms. When seniors sign up for SFMNP at the Jefferson County or Clallam County Farmers Markets, they can
pick up their benefit card at the market. Applications can also be mailed to JCFM at: PO Box 1348, Port Townsend, WA 98368, or emailed to info@jcfmarkets.org <mailto:info@jcfmarkets.org>
. Several community partners have applications, including the Recovery Cafe.
Who Qualifies:
Seniors with incomes below 185% of the federal poverty line can choose SFMNP benefits to spend directly with farmers at Washington State farmers markets or a fresh produce share to be
picked up at their food bank, July-September. Adults who are 60+ or 55+, if you are Native American/Alaskan Native with incomes of $2,413 for a single person or $3,261 for two people,
qualify.
You can learn more about SFMNP and get the application on the JCFM website at: https://jcfmarkets.org/fmnp <https://recoverycafejc.us19.list-manage.com/track/click?u=878120a4a1fd6bb8179418fd1&id=ee9f

Auricular Acupuncture
Two More Dates this Summer
Come join us on Tuesdays 6/24 and 8/26. Sign up at 2:45pm to get your spot! Space limited.
Melissa Yaden will offer a community ear acupuncture session in a calm, soothing, supportive group setting:
“Where we support one another and accompany each other along the path of our individual health journeys, Auricular acupuncture, or acudetox involves a simple, standardized five-point
auricular (ear) acupuncture modality. Acudetox supports the treatment and recovery process by making the client stronger from the inside.
What we are doing
* Group acupuncture – An ear acupuncture therapy that has been used around the world for many decades, based on Chinese Medicine practices that are over 5,000 years old
* Acupuncture helps bring you to a state of greater well being by regulating your nervous system and metabolism. It helps you sleep better and helps reduce pain, anxiety and depression.
After the treatment you will feel more like yourself!
* 5 small needles or ear seeds are inserted in each ear, or less if you prefer
* Needles are sterile and disposed of after use
* If you receive ear seeds, or if your child does, please rub them 3 – 5 times/day for 3-5 minutes, and take them out after 3 days. They may fall out in the shower, which is fine
* An ear acupuncture treatment lasts for 30-40 minutes
* You may feel a little pinch when needle goes in, or you may not…breathing deeply will help the overall treatment. It is a very safe treatment that helps regulate the body!
* All practitioners are licensed or certified to do this treatment
Why are we doing this?
* Help with sleep, anxiety, stress, physical pain, emotional pain
* This treatment will help you feel a greater sense of well-being
How to prepare
* Make sure you have eaten and had enough water
* Turn off your cell phone
* Complete the short Intake and sign the consent form
* Go to the bathroom now if you need to, as you can’t get up with needles in your ears
* Start to relax – you can feel free to close your eyes during treatment to get a deeper treatment experience
How to follow up
* Come back for more treatments if they are available!”
