Flag Day, along with Flag Week, fosters national pride and patriotism, encouraging citizens to reflect on the country's heritage and freedoms. It also educates younger generations about the flag's significance and role in American identity. Cigrand held the first formal observance on June 14, 1885. It was Cigrand’s efforts in this small Wisconsin town that helped spark the national movement. The restored schoolhouse now serves as a historic site honoring the birthplace of Flag Day.
