In its pages, you’ll read about the community of trail advocates, builders, supporters, partners, funders, users, and volunteers who make up our coalition and their accomplishments in 2024. We are a diverse lot of trail enthusiasts conjoined by a single mission as the lead advocate for building and maintaining the Olympic Discovery Trail. Trails have been described as linear parks. Linear parks connect our communities to our forests, grasslands, and beaches. As a linear park, the Olympic Discovery Trail gives us a way to enjoy the stunning natural world of the North Olympic Peninsula by foot, bike, or hoof, connecting us to the places we cherish while doing the activities we treasure. Trails—linear parks—bring us together. The Olympic Discovery Trail, as you’ll read in the enclosed report <https://olympicdiscoverytrail.us21.list-manage.com/track/click?u=862004159972503fe35fefc93&id=dfd18ce7c4&e=d7954f414c> , is also a powerful economic engine on the North Olympic Peninsula. Thousands of visitors come to the peninsula each year to enjoy the trail and also participate in the multitude of recreational events that take place annually along our linear park. We’re proud of the work that our local governments, tribes, businesses, and nonprofit organization’s do each year to make our home—and the Olympic Discovery Trail—an inviting and welcoming destination. As someone who enjoys and supports the Olympic Discovery Trail, I am grateful for your interest in the work of the Peninsula Trails Coalition as well your support. As you may have read in our spring campaign letter, we’re in the process of hiring our first executive director. New leadership will build upon the extraordinary achievements of our founders. I hope that you will continue to support our efforts as we hand-off our vital enterprise to a new generation of trail builders.
