Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. Dear Commissioners, I’m reaching out after hearing about Mark McCauley's new initiative and “ask” of the BoCC to develop a Youth Commission in Jefferson County. Coincidently, this is something that over the last month the North Hood Canal Chamber has been discussing. The young people in the county was a topic that came up at our last Connections Meeting event on June 5th. The tagline that came to me after the Chamber’s Connections meeting in Quilcene was simply: “invest in our youth” “invest in our community” “invest in our future”… certainly not original concepts but something I believe a community, maybe even a county can get behind and have a shared common goal focused on fostering the youth in our county and recognizing the impact they do and can have on all of us living and growing older here. I’ll stop there and simply let you know I would welcome getting involved and will happily volunteer my time (yes it is limited), if you are looking for volunteers to get on board. There is a big need to help foster our young people right now, especially if we want them to stay here and guide the future growth of Jefferson County.
