Brown at 9:30 a.m. with <br />all members present, except Gael Stuart. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Upon the motion of Commissioner Pitts, seconded <br />by Commissioner Brown the minutes of the September 21, 1983 meeting were <br />approved as written. Unanimous. <br /> <br />Salvation Army Presentation: Mr. Ellie Madsen and Mr. Carl Main, Field <br />Representatives at the Northwest Division of the Salvation Army were pre- <br />sent to honor Phyllis Bee upon here retirement as Public Health Nurse. <br /> <br />The Salvation Army through their "Service Extention" volunteer program <br />tries to take care of people's needs in tne smaller communities. Mrs. Bee <br />has served ast;xtension Chairmarl for thi_sprogramin Jefferson County. <br />Mr. Main then presentedMrs Bee with a plaque commemorating their appre- <br />ciation of her service to the Salvation Army and the community. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />In thanking the Salvation Army, Mrs. Bee noted that the scope of ~"'e 'wl? <br />given by this organization was not understood by her until she startec <br />volunteering. Everyone knows about the help given at Christmastime, but <br />help in emergencies such as fire, and help given with transportation and <br />food year ,around, is not g~nerally as well known. The residents <br />of Jefferson County receive help from the SaTvation Army even wben they are <br />away from home~------- ' <br /> <br />Mr. Main finished his presentation by advising the Board that the Army would <br />be continuing their help and are working to start a program in this area with <br />the Emergency Services people to meet the needs if a catastrophy situation <br />should arise. <br /> <br />Mike Hammer; Sewage Disposal Permit on Protection Island: Randy Durant <br />advised that Mr. Hammer had called to say that he would not be able to attend <br />the Health Board meeting,mrl tlEProsecuting Attorney was unable to attend <br />
