WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF
Natural Resources

DOUG SUTHERLAND
Commissioner of Public Lands

October 31, 2003

Michelle Farfan
Jefferson County DCD
621 Sheridan Street
Port Townsend, WA 98368

Dear Michelle,

At your request I visited Jefferson County Parcel 001305030 to verify the presence of a
Type 5 stream.

I visited the parcel on October 27, 2003. I observed that a ravine does exist in the
approximate location shown on the map. I followed this feature east to the Chevy Chase
golf course property boundary.

I found that while this ravine undoubtedly drains surface runoff during rain events a
physical channel was very difficult to discern. Furthermore the ravine does not appear to
have connectivity with a higher order channel downstream. Therefore this feature would
be considered a non-Typed water.

On an unrelated note, some of the parcels within this development have been cleared and
a few even have houses in various stages of construction. Even though this development
project may have gone through a Jefferson County review a forest practice conversion
permit is still required on parcels over two acres.

If you have any questions regarding my stream type observations, or forest practice
permit requirements please contact me at (360) 732-7175.

~,Since[ely, ;/
~ ? ./-"" :/

Ross Goodwin
Forest Practice Forester
Olympic Region

cc: A1 Scalf, Jefferson Co.
